Challenges

The traditional family-owned company sought a succession solution involving external shareholders. During the first personal meeting, the Family Trust team was greeted by seven family members, all actively involved in the business. A complex scenario that many would have dismissed as unsuitable for an entrepreneurial succession from the outset.

Not Family Trust: We conducted an initial review and analysis. Through this process, mutual appreciation developed, along with promising prospects for the company’s future. Both the collaboration and the opportunities convinced us to take on the challenge—despite the complexity and the industry-wide difficulties.

Investment approach

Increasing profitability and growth through operational improvements in the organization – that is the approach and aspiration of Family Trust. Dietsch Polsterei is now a flagship for the successes that can be achieved in this way. To this end, we have implemented a whole range of operational measures.

The spectrum ranges from a successfully implemented purchasing project, which has resulted in considerable savings in material costs without compromising on quality, to an optimized search for suppliers and increased flexibility, to a revision of the product portfolio. All with the aim of making the company fit for the future in the long term.

Development since acquisition

Since 2019, the year of the takeover, we have reached many important milestones on the way to our goal. First and foremost is the successful succession plan. We have implemented this step by step in close coordination with the entrepreneurial family members, enabling Jörg Dietsch, the last active family member, to hand over his position on the board after four years.

Other milestones included the development of new sales areas – firstly via online channels and secondly through the production and sale of contract furniture on a large scale – as well as the development of new product lines. One example of this is the so-called Greenline from Dietsch: a range of upholstered furniture that predominantly uses recycled raw materials and local woods.
